Why Can't I Add Plugins to My imFORZA Website?
If you're somewhat familiar with WordPress and you've logged into your site to notice that you cannot add / remove plugins, then you're not doing anything wrong.
As a matter of fact, we have a very strict policy when it comes to plugin management which is why we have decided to block permissions for removing and adding plugins.
Although this seems excessive it's for a good reason....and one that is primarily for your benefit as an imFORZA website customer.
One of the nice things about WordPress is that there are thousands of plugins already built by other developers that are easy to grab, install, activate and use.
This is also one of the downsides of WordPress as there is very few checks and balances when it comes to approving plugins based on quality, continued support, compatibility and security.
For this reason we, as your website host and support team, have taken on this responsibility so that you never have to worry about a malicious or poorly supported plugin compromising the performance or security of your website.
To help us achieve the high levels of uptime and support we pride ourselves on with our hosted websites we remove permissions from the client side to add or remove plugins.
Does this mean that no plugins are ever allowed to be added?
Definitely not.
We just have a process that we ask our clients to follow in order to provide high levels of support and to ensure that our clients' sites never get compromised.
The process is as follows...
- Send an email to support@imforza.com with the name of the plugin that you'd like to add. If you don't know the name, but know what feature you're looking to add then describe that in detail and we'll research the best one for you
- Once our team reviews your request we will either approve and install the plugin or we will disapprove, but provide an alternative / better option to achieve what you want
It's that simple. And the best part is that you don't have to do any research or worry about breaking your site and then rushing to have it fixed before your visitors notice.
We're big proponents of plugins. We just prefer that we limit unnecessary plugins and we only use ones that are being actively supported, getting high ratings from the WordPress community and are completely compatible with the existing theme and plugins being used on your website.
